We are a group of University of Toronto students who know that OUR generation will one day be responsible for the future of Canadian healthcare. With physician shortages, long wait times, and growing pressure on our healthcare system, we believe supporting future doctors needs to start before medical school. We created Next Gen Medicine to bring aspiring physicians together, open doors that aren't equally accessible to everyone, and help build a future of medicine that better represents the communities we will one day serve.

On September 12, 2026, we’re bringing more than 300 students from across the GTA to the University of Toronto for the first-ever Next Gen Medicine Conference, where they’ll learn directly from Canada’s leading physicians, ask questions, and build meaningful connections.

From the beginning, one thing was important to us: this conference had to be free. There are already enough financial barriers on the path to medicine, and we never wanted a ticket to be another one. Thanks to our incredible partners and supporters, we’ve already raised over $10,000, and we’re asking our community to help us raise the final $5,000 to bring this vision to life. Funding will cover meals, educational resources, the creation of digitized lecture content, and essential conference costs.

To us, this is about more than one day. Maybe a student meets their first physician mentor. Maybe they see someone who looks like them and realize there’s a place for them in medicine. And maybe, just maybe, this can be the beginning of a continued investment from our healthcare leaders and communities into the bright future of medicine.
