Newton Needs Medical Help - Chemo

Donation protected
Newton is our 5 year old beloved boy that we adopted through a local rescue when he was 5 months old. He has the best personality and gets along perfectly with all other pets. He fills our lives with constant love, entertainment, and joy. He has always been a healthy boy. He enjoys his birthday celebration every February 16th where he gets to wear a snazzy sweater with his siblings and enjoy a treat meal of tuna! He unfortunately has not had this year’s celebration due to his current illness.
Since July 14th of 2022, we as a family have endured multiple, heartbreaking losses of our senior cats. They were 20, 18 and 15 years of age. They all lived wonderful long lives and are greatly missed. Along with those losses came expected veterinary care fees.

Newton showed sudden lameness in his left front leg on February 11th. He visited his vet on the 13th where he had x-rays. No breaks were found, and pain meds were started. He had a full blood panel and CBC done which was normal.
On February 24th we took him back because the lameness switched from the left front leg to the right front leg. More x-rays were done and sent off to a radiologist for interpretation. That report came back with no abnormal findings in any of his bones. He was also viral tested negative for FeLV/FIV (as a precaution – was negative as a kitten as well). Antibiotics were started as a precaution.
We have exhausted the testing available to us here locally and now must be referred to the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown for further testing to try to get a diagnosis.

It is hard for us to ask for help, however, in this difficult situation, we are needing help to get him care. We do not know what the exact costs will be, as it will depend on the specific tests, but it will be in the thousands.
If we reach our goal and there are leftover funds above what our costs are, we plan to donate the remainder to the rescue who gave us the best boy ever.
His siblings are waiting for him to play with them again and we miss seeing him happy and healthy. If you cannot donate (we know times are tough for everyone) please consider sharing our story.

Thank-you for your support and kindness.
