Newton Longville: Supporting The Crooked Billet & Steve

Today, our village of Newton Longville has been shaken by a devastating house explosion, leaving one of our residents, Steve, seriously injured and facing an incredibly difficult road ahead.
At a time when so many people were frightened, displaced and unsure what was happening, our local community has pulled together in an amazing way.
A special thank you is owed to Paul and the whole team at The Crooked Billet.
The pub opened its doors as a place of refuge for people who had been evacuated from their homes and became a base for the emergency services working throughout the day. Paul and his team have fed and supported emergency crews, looked after evacuated residents and given so generously when our village needed it most.
They have done all of this without hesitation, and we know that much of what they’ve provided has come directly out of the pub’s own pocket.
So, rather than simply saying thank you, we would love to give our community the opportunity to give something back.
This fundraiser will support two things:
The Crooked Billet – to help cover some of the costs they’ve taken on while supporting emergency crews and evacuated residents today.
Steve – to help him as he begins the incredibly difficult journey of recovering from his injuries and rebuilding his life following the devastation of his home.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will mean something. If you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this fundraiser is just as appreciated.
Today has shown exactly what makes Newton Longville such a special place. In an incredibly frightening situation, people have looked after one another.
Let’s show Steve, Paul, the team at The Crooked Billet and everyone affected that our village is behind them.
Thank you to everyone who has helped, donated, opened their doors, checked on neighbours, supported the emergency services or simply been there for someone today.
Newton Longville ❤️
