Newport Marathon for Lighthouse Animal Shelter

I'm running this year's Newport Marathon on October 8th to benefit a charity that means a lot to me and even more to the animals it helps - Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford. Lighthouse rescues dogs from high-intake shelters in the south, saving animals who face the risk of euthanasia due to no fault of their own. Many of these animals arrive scared and panicked, having known only a life of abuse or neglect. Having witnessed the transformation of so many of these same dogs into happy and loving companions for countless families in our community, I can confidently say the service Lighthouse provides is worth running a thousand miles. Unfortunately, I can barely run 26 - so please consider donating to this worthy cause, even if it is only a few cents per mile, your contribution will help buy food, medicine, and the other supplies needed to provide these wonderful animals with the care they deserve before they find their forever homes - and it will also motivate me to finish when I'm tired and out of breath around halfway through the race.
