Newport Rescue Captain Dave Smiley Jr Support

On the early morning of March 14th 2019, Volunteer Fire Captain Dave Smiley Jr. of Minquas Fire Company in Newport DE, sustained 2nd an 3rd degree burns on approximately 10% of his body. This occurred while fighting a fire in Mill Creek DE area. Captain Smiley became trapped after falling through the 2nd floor into the 1st floor. He is currently in Crozer Burn Center in Upland PA. Captain Smiley has a long road to recovery, due to the injuries that occurred during the Fire.
Firefighter Smiley is a Full Time Professional Firefighter at the Lebanon City Fire Department IAFF Local 1952. Firefighter Smiley is an avid Volunteer and has donated years of his time to serve his community with the following companies: Good Will Fire Co. #2 of West Chester PA, Boothwyn Fire Co. #1 of Upper Chichester PA, Minquas Fire Company of Newport DE. Captain Smiley is also an avid Fire Photographer at Nozzle Nut Photography, and on his YouTube channel @Goodwill2ndin.
This fundraiser is THE ONLY Go Fund Me fundraiser for Fire Captain Smiley's medical and living expenses. Nobody is sure how long his recovery will be, or how long he will be out of work.
Fire Captain Smiley was initially on a ventilator, and was removed from the ventilator last night. Updates will be posted as time goes on.
