On 11th June 2025, we had the privilege of meeting the wonderful Kate, who came to us as a patient and shared a story that truly touched our hearts.
Kate lost her husband nearly 20 years ago and has since dedicated her life to a remarkable charitable cause: Planting for Hope Uganda. In a small village called Kititi, home to around 1,000 people, Kate has led an incredible transformation, working tirelessly to make the community sustainable and self-sufficient for generations to come.
Her decades of commitment are nothing short of inspiring. Listening to Kate speak so passionately about the people of Kititi, we knew we wanted to help. That’s why we’ve partnered with her charity to support fundraising efforts and focus on eye health for the village.
In February 2026, a team of eight from Newmedica and Specsavers will travel to Kititi to contribute to this life-changing mission. We’re excited and humbled by this opportunity—and we need your help to make it happen.
Meet the Team:
Thomas Jackson – Consultant Ophthalmologist & Clinical Partner
Josh Raden – Operational Director & Partner
Sarah Canning – Lead Optometrist
Ann-Marie Janes – Clinical Service Manager
Lauren Bennett – NHS Service Manager
Becky Meehan – Ophthalmic Technician
Robina Sharif - Optometrist Director Specsavers Bromsgrove
Imogen Bentham - Optometrist Director Specsavers Stratford-upon-Avon
How You Can Help?
-Donate unwanted glasses (adult & children) so we can refract and dispense them in Kititi.
-Donate clothing for adults and children.
-Green and white school uniforms are especially needed.
-Help us reach our fundraising target to support eye health, school equipment, and general needs for the village.
Every contribution brings us closer to making a lasting impact. Thank you for helping us support Kate’s incredible vision for Kititi!
