Hi everyone, my name is Kevin and I'm trying to raise some funds for my son and his new wife Michelle. They live on Maui in Lahaina and were just married on the 23rd of July this year. The following week they left on their honeymoon and returned this past Monday to the island. By Tuesday they let me know that they were experiencing high winds from the passing hurricane and had lost electricity. Very early Wednesday morning I received a text from my son that they had to evacuate from some wildfires (he sent a pic of the dark cloud of smoke in the distance). Over the next 24 hours after Maui lost cell service, internet, and electricity my wife and I finally found out that they were safe at a friend's house (lots of frantic messaging between her and I, as you might imagine).

Finally, on Thursday afternoon, my son was able to get back to their house and see that it had completely burned to the ground. Everything they owned except for 2 cars, some tools, pets, and clothes on their back was gone. This is the house Michelle grew up in and that her dad had built with his own 2 hands.

Their current situation has them couch surfing and shopping for basic necessities. I'd like to get enough funds together for them to be able to purchase some additional clothing, personal items, and perhaps find a more permanent place to live.
