New House for our New Friends

Donation protected
Hello everyone! Our names are Rosie and Kirsten, this past August we put our lives in Nashville, Tennessee behind us and moved to La Vallee, Haiti. We decided to take a gap year between high school and college to teach conversational English in a local high school. After being here less than a month we've realized that there are so many ways the people of Haiti need our help, but we can't help everyone so we're starting with one person. But not just anyone, we're starting with our new best friend.

Meet Isais. In just a short time he has taken on the roles of our best friend, bodyguard, and brother. After meeting Isais and seeing how skinny and malnourished he is, we could only imagine what his living conditions would be.  After seeing him every day we both knew that we had to meet his family and see how they live on a daily basis, so we talked ourselves into going to visit them.

Just a month ago there were 6 people living in this room, the house all together has 4 rooms with a different family in each room. The parents slept on the bed, Isais and his brother, David, slept under the bed, and his sister, Magdala, and her daughter, Dapherline, slept on the concrete floor beside the bed. Thankfully, his sister, niece, and parents now live in a slightly larger house and only Isais and David live in the smaller house. But this isn't good enough. Their family is separated, neither of the houses are in good condition, and they deserve so much more. They are content with how they live because they know they could never afford anything else, but we know that they can't have the best quality of life in the houses they have.

So what's the plan? We are raising the money to build Isais and his parents a new home. That way Magdala and her daughter will be able to live in her house (pictured above) and the rest of the family can live in the new house. We will also be purchasing beds for each person so no one will have to sleep on the concrete floor anymore. The new house will be located on the same property as Magdala so they can still be together, but now they will have enough space to live comfortably.

No matter how much we want to build a new house for everyone we meet, we know it's not possible. But God has called us to change this family’s life and we hope that you can help change it with us. In Matthew 25:31-46 God says, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." We continue to see God through this amazing family every day and we hope that we can build this house for them so they can have even more reasons to be so grateful.

The money raised will be going towards materials to build the house, pay the workers, and buy the furniture. Any size donation can go a long way in this project and we believe that if we all work together to donate and spread the word we can accomplish this goal. We thank you so much in advance for all of your support and prayers, we already can't thank you enough!
