Ever wish there was a community coffee shop in Old Greenbelt? A place to get an excellent cup of coffee on your way to work, or to visit with friends while having breakfast? With your help we can make that wish come true!
Big changes are happening at the New Deal Café, including the exciting addition of a coffee shop in the front room. The coffee shop will be Greenbelt's community gathering place, with free WiFi for the work-at-home crowd, and it will attract new customers to Roosevelt Center. The café will serve specialty espresso drinks, drip coffee, organic loose-leaf teas, bagels and homemade pastries.
To make sure we do this right, we're sourcing our coffee from the expert roasters at Vigilante Coffee Shop in nearby Hyattsville. They buy their beans directly from coffee farms and small coops, so the profit goes to the farmers and not to middlemen. Vigilante is also helping us set up our espresso bar and helping us buy just the right equipment.
But we need your help! This GoFundMe campaign for $25,000 will help cover the cost of all the equipment, including a commercial-grade espresso machine, the espresso bar renovation and other start-up costs.
