Newburn Family fundraiser for new home after tragedy
Donation protected
We are the Newburn Family, and our lives have changed and the lives of our friends have been changed forever. Rent was getting to be ridiculous along with our energy bills so we needed a better plan. We bought a camper, finished out or lease, bought some land and started planning on building. A few days ago, we asked our friends Amber and Shane to help us move our camper. They had a 2500 3/4 ton truck, while we just had a 1500. They also had a trailer we could tow and use to move the rest of our property. We finished packing everything much later than anticipated. They had our camper hitched up and the truck loaded with everything from our clothes, toiletries, to shoes and school backpacks, while we had the trailer loaded with tools and the truck loaded with more personal items, including my daughter and dog. Around 10:40 and 11 pm, we were on the road and headed to the gas station, then Jack in the Box, and then off to our new spot. We were following the speed limit... actually going 50 mph in a 70 mph zone. Dustin and I were driving in front, leading the way, just conversing when Dustin looked in the rearview mirror and said, "Their headlights are gone... where did they go?" I looked over at him, and immediately we tried calling Amber's phone since Shane was driving. It was forwarded and ignored... we knew immediately something was wrong. We turned around in the U-turn lanes made for state patrol and hauled ass in the other direction when we came upon exactly what we feared the most. Our camper flipped on its side, and the truck our friends were in was flipped on its side 15-20 feet away from the camper. Fire was coming out of the wheel well. It took us all of about 5 seconds to react, with Dustin jumping out and running to the accident immediately and dialing 911. I got out, turned on our hazards, and told my daughter, who just happened to wake up, to stay in the truck. I started calling 911 and ran to Dustin's aid... we were so scared of what we were going to find and expected the worst, but coming up to the truck, Shane came out of the top window (which was the driver window), panicked but okay. Dustin was prepared to kick in the windshield to get Amber out when Shane told us Amber wasn't in the vehicle and pointed in her direction. We could hear her before we saw her. It was so dark, but there she was, three feet away from the truck, laying on the ground, groaning in pain. We had to get out of there, though, with the truck on fire. Dustin and I moved our truck and realized Amber was more hurt than we thought. Shane and Dustin carried her over to our truck. We knew she shouldn't move, but she refused to lay still, so we made her sit in the truck to keep her from moving as much as possible. The truck went up in flames so fast that no one had time to react. We moved the propane tank off the camper and just prayed for the best, but it was gone within minutes. First responders, medical, police, and the fire truck finally came, what seemed like all at once. They immediately attended to Amber and made the decision quickly that she needed to be flight-for-life'd in the helicopter to UMC in Vegas. How did this happen? The camper started fishtailing, and Shane gave it gas to pull out of it, but it wasn't enough and too late. It all happened in slow motion. The camper tipped over and lifted the truck on the two passenger wheels (which is where I'm assuming the window broke) and pushed the truck a good distance till the hitch snapped. The chains were still connected, though, so the camper jack-knifed the truck and sent it rolling. The outcome... One dear friend was unscathed... not a scratch... and our other dear friend Amber... she was hurt... badly. She ended up having three lacerations to her spleen, which was removed almost immediately at the hospital, a laceration to her liver, a few broken ribs, a small injury to one of her lungs, and three fractures in her hip, that she went into surgery for a second time. We have another fundraiser for amber here (https://gofund.me/32db2239) if you wish to donate to her and shane. Unfortunately we lost everything that night. We lost our home..all of us lost our clothes except for the ones we were wearing. We lost our toiletries from clippers, razors, toothbrushes, shampoo & conditioner, make up. My children lost all their toys. Everything burned to the ground, just a pile of ash was left. So please, if you can find it in your hearts to donate to help us find a home, we would be forever grateful...and if you can't but wish to donate ammentites like soap or razors then call or text Dustin at 2512776459, or Samantha at 2514058115. Anything would be much appreciated. We just have to remember that God has a plan for us. We just have to be patient and know that we will be ok.
