New Years Eve - A Short Film
Donation protected
Hello! Our names are Mikaila Evans and Shawn Abramyan. Together, we created the film "New Year's Eve" for our University thesis, and we are now in the process of production. Unfortunately, Film-making is expensive, and it's hard to tell the stories we want to tell on a student's dime. That's why we need your help: so we can finish out our university careers making the best film possible.
THE STORY
"New Year's Eve" is a slice of life piece about a lonely young woman, Lennon, struggling to find meaningful connections. Lennon copes with feeling empty and lost while everyone else celebrates the most exciting night of the year.
At its core, our film is about loneliness and feeling like an outsider in your own life. It's sad, it's funny, it's awkward; it is meant to commemorate a person in their growth phase. It is the stage when you are not with the right people, and you don't know your own worth, but you are trying to figure it all out.
WHY INVEST IN OUR FILM:
Here are 2 great reasons why you should back our film.
1. We really believe in this project.
Shawn and I have been writing and planning for this film for the past 7 months. We have put so much time and effort into making the most beautiful project possible. Reaching our fundraising goals gives us the best chance at success.
2. Investing in this short film is investing in our future careers:
By donating to this project, you are giving us opportunities to get into film festivals, get our names out there and begin to build a film resume and reputation. Experience is the only way we will grow as filmmakers.
WHO ARE WE?
Shawn Abramyan
Shawn's passion for the arts began with a love for theatre. Shawn started off as a theatre actor and transitioned into theatre production, where he eventually found his footing in the film world. Shawn believes film is such a fantastic medium because it allows people to immerse themselves in a new world. Film is a medium created to connect people, shape culture, and voice the intimate stories the world would have never known. That's what Shawn aims to do through this film and in his career as a film director.
Mikaila Evans
Mikaila is a Toronto-based filmmaker, writer and artist. Ever since she was little, all she wanted to do was tell stories, whether that's through writing screenplays, shooting films, painting, songwriting. It didn't matter the medium; what was important was capturing moments. Mikaila loves the imagination and creativity that goes into writing for film and thrives when she writes about personal experiences. She loves writing places that only exist in her mind and getting to translate it into something visual. She is excited to continue growing in her career as a writer and filmmaker.
WHERE IS YOUR MONEY GOING?
The donation money goes towards paying for gear and equipment rentals, location rentals, production design and costumes, as well as food for the cast and crew.
