I am brooklyn baggett, a trans poet and artist in New York. I started new words {press} as a platform for trans & gender expansive poets and hybrid writers. I have a long history of literary journal experience and received my MFA from Goddard College. I have the expertise and the means to do more for my community. So, that's what I did. I am funding the journal myself. I recognize in order to do more & stick around long-term, we need financial support. so, here I am. every dollar donated goes to pay future contributors, produce the journal & chapbooks, offer learning opportunities, and build the reach of nw{p}.

Our mission is to elevate emerging trans, gender-expansive, and queer voices. We’re interested in authenticity and intimacy. We publish work that pushes boundaries in form, content, diction, and process. New, fresh work needs more visibility. The old notions of how poetry is “supposed” to be done is stifling. we are a press dedicated to daring work. we plan to make a racket and burn the envelope.
