New Wheels for Jose!

Hey There,

My name is Steve Jonas. My band mates and I (Porch Rockers - Tucson AZ ) have been putting on outdoor neighborhood concerts since the beginning of the COVID pandemic so people have a safe environment to enjoy some live music.

Ever since we started playing in Glenn's (drummer) driveway on the east side of Tucson, we noticed one of our new fans/friends would ride his recumbent trike to almost every show. His name is Jose and we have got to know him over the past year. He is 38 years old and he is physically challenged. Back in 2001, at the age of 18, Jose was in an auto accident where he was ejected from the vehicle and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He was in a coma for three (3) months and although he recovered, he had lost use of the left side of his body. We have been grateful for Jose's attendance and appreciation of our music and we have been impressed with his determination to ride his recumbent trike six (6) miles, each way, just to see us play! Now imagine how difficult this is for Jose having only his right leg to provide power to the pedals. He usually starts out about two (2) hours before the start of our show to make sure he gets there in time!

Recently, Jose let us know that his trike was failing him. It has become harder for him to ride it and it is now unstable and therefore unsafe. It did well for him for many years but he needs new wheels that will be safer and allow him to have more mobility.

Glenn and I have done our research and we would like to help Jose get a new recumbent quad cycle. These machines are expensive. Jose lives with his (amazing) mother and they have very limited resources so we are asking our friends and family as well as anyone else who happens to read this story and is moved, to give what they can to help us help Jose.
