My name is Charles Shaffer I'm 30 years old. I was born with cerebral palsy. I have no muscle control from my waist down. I can't walk so I use a standard wheelchair to get around. My mother got me into doing 5k runs last year. And I have a lot of fun doing them with my mother. She pushes me in my wheelchair the whole time. The wheelchair is not comfortable at all. There not designed for that kind of outdoor activity. She has to watch about all the holes, cracks, or uneven surfaces when she is pushing me in my wheelchair so that she doesn't turn me over in the chair or hit a hole and it hurt my legs or bones. My mother has found a wheelchair that is designed for running and outdoor activities that is built with extra cushions and support for me to be able to do 5k runs and other activities safer and more comfortable.
