Hi, I’m Sage Cornish and AFTER hearing back from the city of South Portland about the damage to my car and my mothers car and my mother’s house they have explained that they are NOT liable for this event. The tree that hit our cars and house was a CITY tree but they’re refusing to help us in this horrible time that their dead and ROTTING tree caused. We had no house insurance because my mother just inherited the house in November 2025 so she was still trying to replace things that needed to be fixed before she was able to get house insurance. We both did not have full coverage on our vehicles. So with that being said I’ve never been the type to ask for help with anything; my family always taught me that if you lose something, you have to get it back yourself. But unfortunately, I’m a full-time unemployed single parent. On August 13th, 2026, we experienced a severe storm that lasted 30 minutes at my house, and half a tree fell onto my vehicle and my mother’s vehicle. Along with damage to our house. This has left my mom unable to work and me unable to get my daughter to her appointments or manage anything else. Within 30 minutes, we lost everything we needed to support ourselves. We have no house insurance or full coverage on both cars. So, for now, im asking for enough money to buy a new vehicle for myself. Even if I were to receive only HALF of the 5000 I’m asking for that would make a huge difference for me. Thank you for anything
