The Rookie class of 2025 at New Tech High at Coppell (NTH@C) presents the seventh annual Slamming for a Cause night on December 7th, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. During the event, select Rookies (NTH@C freshmen) will perform their original slam poems. Tickets are $5. There also will be a bake sale, t-shirt sales, learner- designed greeting cards, and a silent auction. Proceeds go to Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, a local non-profit coordinating the investigation, prosecution, and healing services for the most severe cases of child abuse in Dallas County. They serve children ages 0-17 and last year provided hope and healing to over 8,000 children and their non-offending family members.
In 2019 more than 150 attended the event and raised $10,800 for Carry the Load. This year, the Class of
2025 has set a goal to raise $12,000 for Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center.
“NTH@C learners are committed to changing the world through service and innovation. Contributions
and attendance from our community help to continue our efforts,” states Janelle Bence, English I
facilitator. Everyone ages 13 and up are welcome to join us for the event and help support our learners
and this great cause.
DCAC is the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County. DCAC reduces the re-victimization of the child, removes barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhances criminal prosecution with their distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases.
