No Money, Need Car Repair Money

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Ian, I'm currently an entry-level HVAC technician that's in a prolonged rut in my life. My first heating & air conditioning employer right of school ended up firing me in October for discriminatory reasons regarding my sexuality. If I had been more calm in collected at the time I probably would have realized how illegal what they were doing probably was, but instead I was so shocked and scared at what was happening I wasn't thinking and signed the resignation paper they slid in front of me thinking I had no other choice.

So there I was, winter on it's way and out of work for the field I'd gone to school for 16 weeks to work in, with no possibility of getting back in the field with another company for months what with winter being the slow period for the HVAC industry. I eventually managed to get a minimum wage autoparts store job a couple months after my firing when I finally gave up on finding anything better and I still work there now and still look for new work nightly. It pays the bills, barely, but I'm basically living paycheck to paycheck with little room to put aside any meaningful amount for an emergency fund of any kind, I'm pretty nervous.

I'm basically on god's good graces right now that my car doesn't break down or that I don't get any sudden health emergency because I basically have no savings or emergency fund after being unemployed for so long and then having a minimum wage job.

Which brings me to my car, my loyal old 2002 Hyundai Accent. She's been in the family since she was new, since I was a kid, and just turned 200,000 miles old a week ago. She was the first car I learned to drive in, and the only car I've ever owned. Needless to say she means a lot to me as a car guy and just someone who's sentimental in general. To save money I do almost all of the repair work on her myself.

At about 175,000 miles, while I was going to school for HVAC as a matter of fact, her struts specifically the rear ones began to go out. As of now they've been out for months and now the front ones are going out too, they make a horrible clacking noise over the smallest of road imperfections which is a constant reminder of their state and very disconcerting.

All four struts are in need of replacement, they're all horribly worn to the brink, I've just had to keep putting it off hoping I'd get the extra money to buy new ones at some point and that point never arriving. Now with how desperate my situation is with having no emergency money, my fear now is that they'll go out completely or the extra play leading to something else in the suspension paying and then me being without a car unable to get to my job.

I can do the work of installing them myself, I have all the tools and knowledge to do so, but living paycheck to paycheck means I can't afford to buy them and haven't been able to for months. I hate having to stoop to the level of ebegging for help but a friend suggested I try a GofundMe and I figured it was worth a shot..

If anyone feels compelled to throw a few bucks my way to help me get my good ol' car well again so I can have one less thing to worry about it would be so much appreciated...

Thank you,
Ian.
