Tre was born with a condition where tumors form and attach themselves to nerves in the body. His condition is called Neurofibramotis, also know as NF1. When Tre was just 6 weeks old he started having signs of his first tumor that began to develop. Tre is now 19 years old and has confidently lived with the tumor practically his whole life, despite the severe pain and limitations it has placed on him throughout his life growing up. After having the tumor for 19 years it was time to get more answers. So he traveled with family to Phoenix, Arizona where he was seen by a physician who specializes in his condition at the Mayo Clinic. It was determined that the best solution for Tre was amputation. Not only because the the tumor has grown considerably in size, but also because these type of tumors intertwine with nerves making it almost impossible to remove the tumor without causing a chain of effects that would result in possible tumor growth or new tumors to form.
Fast forward to 3 months after Tre’s first visit with the specialist, and he is being seen again by Dr.Kile at Mayo Clinic, but this time for his amputation surgery to take place. Tre had his leg amputated April 27th, 2021. After 3 hours in surgery and 2 hours in recovery, we were finally able to see Tre where he greeted myself (Mom) and his sister (Whitney) with a smile on his face. Tre has been incredibly brave, strong, and positive throughout this journey to a new begging. Tre is now in the recovery process. He is in the process of letting the swelling go down and the incision to heal. He is eager to be able to walk pain free for the first time in a long time. Tre is staying in Arizona for the next 6 weeks so that he continue to work with his physician and prosthesis while he is on the road to recovery.
This GoFundMe was created to provide support along the way. All funds that are raised are going to pay for travel expenses, medical bills, needed equipment to ensure a fast recovery, and getting Tre’s FIRST PROSTHETIC! We appreciate any and all support. We are beyond blessed and excited for this new life and new leg, but no one is more excited than Tre himself! Updated pictures of Tre’s before and after have been posted so that you all can follow along Tre’s journey to a new leg. Thank you again for all the support ❤️
