New Start for Brian

Dear Family and Friends,

Let us introduce you to our dad Brian Vance.
Our Hero. Single Dad. Lover of all things Ohio State, Cincinnati Reds, and Racing.
Best breakfast chef in the Midwest. Seriously, we’re not kidding.
Works 40+ hours a week in refrigeration and HVAC to provide for himself + kids.

Many of you know us as the Vance boys, but for those of you who don’t, we are Brian II (31) and Brad (24) Vance, sons of Brian Vance and Kim Vance.  On Thursday January 30th, 2020 our dad started to feel excruciating pains in his stomach that sent him to the emergency room.  He called 911 and early Friday morning, January 31sthe was rushed to the hospital and had to have emergency bowel obstruction and triple hernia repair surgery.  They removed a foot of dead lower intestines and repaired an obstructed bowel.  He’s been in ICU since his first surgery and has had four more surgeries since his initial repair on the 31st. Being in ICU, he’s had many complications and has been on a ventilator and sedated the whole time.  Without going into detail, it has been a battle trying to get him stable enough to move forward.  Today we found out he has MRSA and pneumonia in his lungs.  Each day he’s in ICU could be a good day or a bad day. These injuries are a result of an accident in 1990.

Our dad worked for an industrial company when he was 27 and was involved in an accident on the job site, which resulted in him being crushed and pinned by a forklift on his abdomen.  Later at the hospital, they found a hole where the forklift had punctured his bowels and was causing it to be filled with peritonitis. Over the past 30 years, our dad has gone through the worst years of his life physically and emotionally.  He’s had multiple traumatic surgeries including hernia repairs, bowel obstructions, dead bowel removal, peritonitis, colostomies, pulmonary embolisms in each lung, as well as faced physical and emotional setbacks because of this work accident.  This is the 4thtime since the accident that he’s had major hernia and bowel repair surgery.

Brian is a kind-hearted, hard-working man and lives pay-check to pay-check to support himself.  We are asking for help in any way possible to help pay for his rent, utilities, living expenses, food, etc. while he’s in the hospital and once he gets out. He’s been in the hospital since January 31stand the doctors aren’t sure when he’ll be able to go home or if he’ll ever be able to work again.  Any type of financial support would be life-changing to us as we are trying to pay his bills while he is in the hospital so when he gets out, he can focus on recovering.  Donations and prayers are both appreciated and welcomed. We never know what the day will turn out to be and that’s why we’re asking you, our friends and family for help.
