A Humble Benti – Help Us Complete This Historic Project Sadh Sangat Ji,
For nearly 50 years, Siri Guru Singh Sabha Reading (Registered Charity No. 266714) has served as the spiritual home for the Sikh community in Reading. Generations have come through its doors to connect with Guru Granth Sahib Ji, take part in seva, and build strong community bonds through the values of Sikhi.
With the blessings of Guru Sahib and the tireless support of the local Sangat, in late 2023 we successfully purchased a new building that will be the future home of the Sikh community in Reading – a 20,000 sq ft serviced-office site that promises to serve our growing Sangat for decades to come.
About the New Site
This new space will offer:
- 2no. Larger Darbar Halls
- Classrooms for Gurmat, Punjabi & Sikh history education
- Dedicated spaces for elderly members and young families
- Multi-functional areas for seminars, community events, youth activities, and more
- Boxing/MMA/Taekwondo classes for the youth
- A larger kitchen to serve Langar on a much bigger scale
- 80+ parking spaces, direct access to a bus stop, and only 5 minutes walk from Reading train station
Where We Are & How You Can Help
We have already raised £1.65 million for the purchase of the building – entirely through local Sangat donations and loans. Refurbishment works are well underway, and huge strides have been made thanks to the seva of committed volunteers and generous donors.
However, we are now facing a shortfall of £200,000 to complete the project in time for our planned opening (early 2026).
We are reaching out with folded hands to the wider Sikh Panth – across the UK and the world – to support this once-in-a-generation initiative. Whether you have links to Reading or not, this is Guru Sahib’s work – and every penny given towards this cause is an everlasting seva that will benefit future generations.
Work Already Completed
- Strip-out works led by local sevadaars
- Full M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) design and installation for efficient heating, cooling & ventilation
- 260+ solar panels installed to provide clean energy
- New drainage systems installed
- Gyani's accommodation built
- First fix of services currently in progress
