New Roof for Leukemia Patient

Donation protected

My friend Colin has been battling an extremely rare (less than 2000 cases worldwide) and aggressive form of leukemia since November of 2020 and most recently went through a risky stem cell transplant back in July of 2021. While he is recovering and on track to one day be healthy again it will be years before he is able to live a normal life. He has not been able to work for almost 2 years and has been doing his best to stay on top of all his bills while battling through this horrible disease.

Sunday (January 16) and Monday (17th) Colins roof fell victim to the 60-70 mile per hour winds that came with the winter storm. Several shingles on his roof were lifted up with the force of the wind for the duration of the storm allowing a lot of snow and water to seep into his house and damage his walls and ceilings. Being a leukemia patient with an EXTREMELY compromised immune system this water damage inside the house needs to be taken care of ASAP as mold in the house could be very detrimental to his health and recovery.

Fortunately his homeowners insurance will cover the costs of the repairs and painting inside the house, however they will not cover a new roof to prevent future leaks and damage. Colin had a family friend who is a roofer assess the damage and give him a quote to replace the roof… $4000 to $5000 for labor and material.

I am hoping that through this go fund me we can raise enough money for Colin to get his new roof (and maybe more to help with any of his other financial needs?) so that he can focus on healing and beating this leukemia once and for all. This spring Colin will need to have surgeries on both shoulders, hips, knees and ankles from damage caused by a side effect of his treatment and will be even more limited in his ability to generate an income to support himself. Any money we can raise will take a huge amount of burden and stress away from Colin and his family during these extremely trying times.
