New Rochelle Track and Field - Pole Vault Runway

Most everyone who sees this page knows I coach the pole vault for New Rochelle high school in Westchester New York. This is such a special school and program. Extraordinary coaches and kids and I feel incredibly fortunate to work with them.

 

Our athletes shared the same struggles as the rest of the world the past year and a half, dealing with the fears of COVID, remote schooling, social limitations, financial and family struggles. But they still showed up every day for practice. They put their full hearts into training and staying optimistic and are a good reminder to us all about what it means to be an athlete and having the willingness and courage to put it all out there, regardless of the circumstances.

 

This Fall they took another blow. When most high schoolers went back to full time school in September, the New Rochelle students had to continue remote learning because of water damage to the school from the flash floods that hit New York. The school is currently doing everything they can to reopen but there is significant damage, and a lot of that is within the athletic facilities.

 

So here’s the zero pressure ask:

 

We’re trying to buy an indoor pole vault runway so the kids can jump indoors for the winter, instead of having to travel an hour each way to get to a facility with equipment.

 

I set up this gofundme link if anyone feels they’re in a position to donate. The total cost of the runway is $2750 plus whatever it costs to ship. Any additional money raised will go straight to the New Rochelle Girls Track and Field program.

 

I appreciate you guys reading this and considering a donation. I get that people are constantly getting hit up for money so I completely understand that you can’t donate to everyone. But if this one strikes you, I can guarantee your money is going straight to help out some really great kids who will always remember what an incredible gift they received.
