On Saturday evening, after a perfect family day spent at the zoo with new family, Vincent,Christina, and six month old baby Vincent and grandparents Doris and Leslie, my sister experienced every mother’s worst nightmare. While my brother in law and father were outside doing yard work, and my sister and mother were inside feeding my nephew the house began to fill with smoke. A fire started outside on the first floor and traveled up the wall into my nephews nursery.
Thankfully everyone including brawny, their dog, made it out safely. My sister called me in hysterics as she was fearful this new family would loose everything. My sister, and her husband bought their first house in August of last year and together with both families set out to make it a home. It was a total fixer upper, and my sister and brother in law struggle with student loan debt, but wanted to give their son the best that they could. This house was full of dreams and promise for this blossoming family. Both families worked day in and day out, weekends and holidays to paint, clean, repair and make the house a home. It is now half torn apart with the most serious damage being the baby’s nursery and the living room of the home. My sister and brother in law need help. They were barely making ends meet before this, and now face thousands of dollars in repair. My sister is asthmatic and my nephew suffered during cold and flu season and needed nebulized medications for his breathing. The house is currently unsafe and unlivable for my nephew. While they do have insurance, they can’t wait for the payouts to make the house safe for the baby. They can’t afford to stay in a hotel, or to loose time at their respective jobs. The two of them help anyone in need, make time for friends and family and are always willing to help. They are selfless people and need help in this turbulent time. Any thing you can do to help them would be greatly appreciated. Especially for my nephew who has just started to really understand the world around him and needs consistency and familiarity. He is the sweetest, most observant, smart little guy and I want to make this better for them. Thank you for your time and consideration.
