New Mount Calvary Church Chicago Summer Program
Tax deductible

The death of George Floyd and the protests that have followed have been absolutely devastating. Racism and police violence are issues that we are all responsible for solving. We cannot be silent during this time, it is imperative that Kid Made Modern and each one of us does everything in their power to support the black community at this time.
Kid Made Modern has made a $5,000 direct donation to the New Mount Hope Calvary Baptist Church in support of their summer camp program. Our hope is to raise even more for this amazing organization.
New Mount Hope Calvary Church is located in the heart of Englewood, the most dangerous neighborhood in Chicago. The community is 95% African American, has a high rate of gun violence, drug addiction, and a majority of it's families are living below the poverty line. For the children of this community their is a dire issue of food insecurity and safety. Yolanda Morris, along with her husband Pastor Frank Morris have been hosting summer camp for between 200-300 kids for the past decade. They feed them, tutor them, give them a safe space to play, provide support and counseling when necessary and show them they are loved. Yolanda and her sister Willeta personally prepare all of the meals with a small team of dedicated volunteers.
The community has been hard hit with Covid-19, the protesting and looting has left the community in shambles, and gun violence escalated significantly this weekend. Yolanda was not going to be able to hold camp due to a lack of funding to support it. Our donations will allow them to open their doors this summer to hundreds of children in dire need.
