Help with lung transplant and recovery cost

Donation protected

As some of you guys know my mom needs new lungs. After quitting smoking shortly after loosing my dad she winds up getting a lung disease that was truly luck of the draw. We have been battling and fighting to help get her better, some days are good some not so much. we have been through several diagnoses and stumped a few Drs and specialty clinics. We are currently working with UCSF Transplant team and a few others to get my mom closer to the finish line.  We have been told by every Dr at this point the answer is transplant as that will be the only relief.

We are working to manage symptoms as they come up to give her as good quality of life as we can. We have been told that the only option is transplant and that in its self is a difficult journey but we are taking it one day at a time. With this huge task comes things that we couldn’t account for or knew until we started down this road. We didn’t know what we didn’t know and need some help. Some help is out there for her but it is very limited and we will have to not only cover the cost of maintaining her home (all the bills, her pets, maintenance) we will also have to pay for the boarding for the 3 months after surgery.

When her time comes for Transplant we have to stay within 30 mins of the hospital not crossing any bridges and as it turns out that will be San Francisco. We will need to find a place to stay in the city for 3 months to be able to make it to the 100’s of post transplant appointments and be close enough in the event of an issue. She will need 24hr assistance after surgery physically and financially especially since she is on a fixed income. Anything you can spare will help and all funds will go towards taking care of my mom and her expenses though this process.

All my mom wants for the rest of her time is to enjoy her grandkids, to be able to go for a walk with my sister for a distance grater the her oxygen tube allows, and not be out of breath while doing the small things we all take fore granted. Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you could please share this also.
