Family and friends, thank you for your interest in helping out Ron and Darla Harmon. Darla suffered with IPF, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a lung condition which results in scarring (fibrosis) of the lungs for an unknown reason. Her scarring became worse and made it nearly impossible to take in a deep breath. Since there is no cure for IPF, Darla was placed on the lung transplant list at Baylor Scott & White in Dallas, Texas. Knowing they had to live close to Baylor, they sold most of their personal belongings in an estate sale then moved in to the hospital the night they received the call that a donor had been found. Darla received the blessing of a new set of lungs on November 29, 2018 after only 54 days on the list! She has continued to heal beautifully and has been released to a housing complex owned by Baylor and used for their transplant recipients. However, here is where the expenses start to kick in.
Finances were already low prior to Darla's IPF due to Ron's stroke 9 years ago. Now, Darla is unable to work, and Ron has health problems of his own that inhibit him from a full day's work. As you might guess, this process is quite expensive due to ICU and hospital bills, medical equipment, transplant housing ($1500 per month), and anti-rejection medications that will be needed for the rest of her life, & numerous doctor/hospital/specialist visits to list just a few. Please, pray about making a financial contribution as they would be more than appreciative, and pray for continued healing.
Above all, Ron and Darla ask that you pray for the family of the lung donor. May God bless them through this holiday season.
Thank you.
