New lungs for Monica Cain

At one point in our lives we've been through hardship and needed help. Some of us ask while others let pride dictate our outcome. Today, I'm pushing my pride aside and asking for help!!
On July 10th, 2011, I was diagnosed with a rare lung disease. Both lungs are scarred and alveoli is stuck together. On October 13th, 2011, I was given a name. I have PL-12 Antisynthetase Syndrome. An autoimmune disease that affects all organs and creates other diseases that leaves the doctors CONFUSED! Most people with this disease have PL antibodies or 12 antibodies, I'm so lucky to have both. I have clubbed fingers, Interstitial lung disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Myositis, Vasculitis, Anemia, symptoms of a Lupus pt, on oxygen 24/7, and recently diagnosed with Atrial Septial Defect (heart problems).
From a local lung doctor saying, “he has no idea what to do for me or why he gave me the medicine he did, but it worked” he transferred me to MUSC. MUSC doctor said, “I don't know what God you serve but you need to pray because you have a critical disease”. I've tried different treatments and my body rejected them. Four years later, transferred to Emory Healthcare. My oxygen level is still low and breathing is getting worse. I now need a double lung transplant!
Not being able to breathe with oxygen isn't a good feeling. I use to be ashamed and pity myself but this is my life now just trying to give myself a better quality of life, God willing! I want to live! I want to live! I just want to live!
Your donation will assist me in resources for pre and post transplant necessities since I will have to travel for the surgery. The journey ahead will be long but so worth it.
