New Lungs for John Daffron
Donation protected
“Johnny Guitar” always gave me the feeling that everything was going to be alright. He always had the answer and a joke to go with it. Even now, as he sits in a hospital bed, he is cracking us up. You’d never know that he is scared to death.
The team of specialists at the UCSD Transplant Center found another problem – with his heart – and so he has now been placed onto THE TRANSPLANT LIST … and surgeons will perform a double lung transplant and open-heart surgery at the same time.
I’m Lisa Moloney, Kirsten’s best friend of 25 years, and I’m asking for your help. You can imagine how expensive these procedures are going to be, not to mention the living and daily travel expenses to reside in another city for months after. Insurance will cover a good chunk of the cost, but not all of it. Many thousands of dollars will have to be paid out of pocket. Since John was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2013 the Daffrons have traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota every year to keep John going. Travel costs have already accumulated.
Here's the good news: John is a perfect candidate because he is young and is otherwise in excellent health. With our collective prayers and support John will continue to make us laugh, entertain us with his guitar and be the great husband, father and friend to all.
It is hard to accept help, so please know that John and Kirsten are humbled by their situation and are allowing me to spearhead the financial fundraising to make this truly life-saving procedure possible. Updates will be continued through this site so be sure to check often.
