New London Ledge Lighthouse Preservation Plan

Ahoy! The New London Maritime Society must commission a Preservation Plan for New London Ledge Lighthouse. New London Ledge Lighthouse is an icon of the region, and today, November 10, 2022, is the 113th anniversary of its completion. Won't you help us preserve this beloved historic landmark?

There has been significant structural failure at the lighthouse this past year.
State-sponsored engineers visited Ledge recently to study the problem. But before starting repairs next spring, we must have a comprehensive assessment of the building made; this is what we did with the two other lighthouses that the New London Maritime Society owns: New London Harbor Light and Race Rock Lighthouse. The assessment will be done over the winter by historic-preservation architects Walter Sedovic and Jill Gotthelf. The resulting plan will provide a preservation road map for all repairs going forward.

We need to keep the lighthouse standing while preserving Ledge Lighthouse's distinctive character. The conditions assessment - preservation plan will identify significant elements that we should be careful to retain and preserve. Won't you help us?
