New Liver for Brandon Griffis

Meet Brandon. He just celebrated his 38th birthday in July. He has a 10-year-old daughter named Kamryn, and if you speak with him for even just a few minutes, you’ll probably hear all about her too. His parents, Rick Griffis and Jan Turner, have impacted the city of Jacksonville in significant ways – his father at Anheuser Busch where he recently retired after 41 years of service, and his mother as the owner of the westside’s beloved bakery, “The Cookie Bokay.” On August 13, Brandon was informed by his doctors at Mayo that the time has come to be placed on the liver transplant list. Both Brandon and his younger brother (Logan) were born with Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis, a rare and currently incurable liver disease. Logan received a life-saving transplant in 2001 and is a healthy young man today. But now it’s Brandon’s turn. As with any serious surgical procedure, significant expenses can arise in both the months preceding and the months following. COVID-19 has added an extra layer of challenges to overcome for the whole family. Hospital visitors are restricted. Extra cleaning measures are being taken at home. And face masks at all times are required for any and all visitors around him. Would you consider giving to help meet the needs that may arise in the days ahead? As with any transplant, the wait time is unknown, but we know that God in His perfect timing will meet every need. If you would prefer to give a tax-deductible donation, you can do so via the website of the families home church for over 10 years, Riverstone Community Church. www.riverstonecommunitychurch.org Please designate Brandon Griffis Medical Needs in the designated fund/other area. You may also mail a check made payable to Riverstone Community Church to: Riverstone Community Church 6800 W. 5th Street Jacksonville, FL 32254 If you cannot give, you can still help. 1. Sign up today to be an organ donor at https://www.donatelife.net/register/ . What better way to show support for Brandon and his family than by joining the countless who have chosen to give of themselves so that others can live. 2. Above all else – pray. Pray for the families involved, both Brandon’s family and the family of the future donor. Pray for the medical staff overseeing Brandon’s case. Pray that Brandon’s condition remains stable until the transplant can take place, that he is protected from the Coronavirus, and that his body will accept the new liver when the time comes. On behalf of Brandon and his family, thank you for your support during this time.
