New Life for Tyler

Donation protected
When we moved to Mississippi from New Orleans, I was 14 years old. I didn’t want to be here. I didn’t like anything about it. Pretty soon after moving, we began meeting the church members at
FBC Plantersville. There was a shy, stand offish little 3 year old girl named Tyler who came to church with her mom & big sister. Tyler gradually started “taking to”me. And her sweet little soul became one of the things that eventually made my disdain for moving start to fade.

Fast forward about 28 years. I was Facebook friends with Tyler but hadn’t seen her in many years. I followed her story as she had been very open about her struggles with addiction and then her salvation experience and entrance into sobriety. What a joy to see her so passionate for her savior! But as sometimes happens, I began to see changes in her posts, changes not for the better. We began messaging after I reached out and after years of not seeing each other, it was like we were old friends as we talked and tried to work through some difficulties she was having. Tyler hit some all time lows last year around Christmas, but as God began to work things out, we were able to secure a spot for her at Oxford treatment center (thank you, Lauren barber ). After 4 months of rehab, Tyler came home, clean and sober. She has been clean and sober since. Life is not easy as a recovering addict. She faces temptations and hardships, she works hard and owns her own home, she has rescued several dogs, and she has been consistent in her pursuit of recovery.

But recently those bills from rehab started to hit. Tyler would never ask for help but as a vet tech with a mortgage, it is daunting to face such enormous medical responsibilities (over $8,000) from just trying to turn her life around for the better.

I believe that God is the God of MANY chances. One of Tyler’s favorite songs/illustrations has been the parable of the shepherd leaving the 99 safe sheep to rescue the 1 lost, endangered sheep. He has no doubt chased us each down to rescue us before. I would love to be able to help Tyler cover the costs of her rehab stay to show her that the family of God cares, and comes together to support their fellow believers. Please consider giving any amount.
