Greetings, Friends and Family,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out with a heartfelt appeal and a call to action that I hope resonates with each of you. Approximately a year ago, deeply moved by the events surrounding Russia's invasion of Ukraine, I made a commitment to sponsor a Ukrainian family seeking refuge. Today, I'm excited to share that a husband and wife, participants in the U4U program, will soon be joining me in Park Forest.

However, as their arrival draws near, I realize that I can't do this alone. I'm reaching out to our community, to you, for support. I believe in the power of collective action, and I'm confident that together we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these individuals who have been displaced by conflict and hardship.

Now, you might be thinking, "How can I help? I'm not wealthy." And that's precisely the message I want to emphasize: You don't need to be rich to extend a helping hand. Every contribution, no matter how small, can have a ripple effect of kindness and compassion.

So, I'm turning to you, my fellow community members, with a simple request: Will you join me in supporting this refugee family? Whether it's through a monetary donation, offering household items, or simply spreading the word, your involvement matters.

The cost breakdown is as follows:

The first thing that will get purchased is space at a storage facility. We have already received promised items from multiple sources. We need a place to store those items until the family can secure their own housing.

They will arrive from Europe with their luggage, and dreams of a brighter future. That's it. They will need everything from clothing, to furniture, to vouchers for public transportation. They are starting over from scratch. There have been many sponsors who have sponsored Ukrainian refugees. They all agree that the cost is about $3000 per person to include housing, etc. I have attached a video clip to give an example of what another sponsor mentioned about the cost of sponsorship.

In terms of other items that we consider when putting together the checklist of items that we need. We consider kitchen items, linens and other household supplies, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and items such as food. The list goes on and on.
