New lease on life - family who lost everything

Dear friends of Be Here Farm + Nature, friends of the Avila-Santos and Pickard families, and all extended relations who receive this outreach,
There is no good time to ask for money, and 2020 is no exception. That said, a real humanitarian crisis has come to our front, side and back doors. You have likely heard about the damage we received on our property as well as the miraculous fact that our home and farm survived. Devastatingly, this was not the case for the majority of the homes and businesses on our street.
Many of our neighbors are fortunate and flexible enough to make the thousands upon thousands of difficult decisions which are required at this time, however, many of our neighbors are not.
In particular, two young children, Alex and Odalys, have lost their home and every single one of their belongings.
My daughter’s bicycle was burned over at their house. I mention this to point out the fact that the Santos family is essentially our local family here on Spring Mountain. My daughter and their daughter play together every single day. They do more for our family then I could even begin to list. It is as if they are one of our bodily limbs. If they suffer or can no longer remain in this area it will be like amputating one of our limbs. It takes a village, and we need them in our lives, happy, stable, and well.
The last part is the most challenging as both of the children (in addition to being phenomenal young people) have serious autoimmune disorders. Prior to the fire their medical history has been astounding. We need to raise a substantial amount of money so that they can secure reasonable housing and cover their cost of living—in particular, medical bills.
The Santos family are truly some of the sweetest people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. Since this campaign began I have received MANY messages from the local community attesting to that fact.
And so, people who this reaches, I am asking you to please soften your heart, practice empathy, and donate as meaningful of a number as you can humanly muster. All who donate will receive our endless gratitude and a perennial invitation to come join us on the farm anytime you are near. Adoration and gifts of plenty will be showered at that time.
