New Kidney for Julie

Hi Everyone! We are raising money for our dear friend, Julie Sedik, who in the last few months has had the terrible news that her 2nd Kidney transplant is failing, making her due for a 3rd transplant in the near future.

Here is her most recent update to her family and friends via a Facebook post:

"Currently, I’m still in the process of getting approved for my next kidney transplant, this would be my 3rd transplant. The process is very long and lengthy with a lot of doctors appointments and tests. I won’t be approved for a couple weeks. Then once approved I will be put on a waiting list, unfortunately the waiting list for a kidney is 8 years and honestly I don’t have that much time left with my old kidney. So I will be seeking donors on my own to speed up the process, that will also take a couples weeks or months. Ideally I’d like to get my next kidney transplant before having to go on dialysis but right not is not looking very good according to my blood work. Another blow to the process is when I do get the kidney transplant, it’s not a guaranteed and my illness that caused all these issues (FSGS) could come back more aggressively."

On top of this terrible news, she also has to worry about the financial implications associated with her health conditions. Over the last few months due to her failing kidney, she has had to take many days off of work. Unfortunately, she doesn't qualify for disability unless she goes on dialysis - which is her worst nightmare. And then once she does get paired with a donor, she will have to be off work for 3 months or longer after the transplant.

We are hosting a fundraising event on November 16th at Urbanrest Brewery in Ferndale, MI. Anyone is welcomed to attend in support of Julie. We hope to see everyone there!
