Praising God for my friends!

I’m THRILLED to tell you all that I’ve almost completed my courses and my life is on a GREAT path to my new career. After submitting about 40 applications, I still have not secured any employment. HOWEVER!! I did meet with my Real Estate mentor/future employer today and he is thrilled with my progression. I will be taking my National/State Exam in just a few short weeks and he is feeling confident I will succeed. Although I won’t be paid until I have passed, he has already started a “semi” onboarding process and introduced me to the team. I will be a VERY proud member of RE/MAX Concepts in Cedar Falls Iowa.

My friends…My family…. I could not have done this without you. With all of my efforts, I wouldn’t even have my house right now, and this is not an exaggeration. You all have been a miracle for me. I promise to return the miracle back. I am a woman of my word, and you have allowed me to turn an unexpected situation into a new beginning. Didn’t expect a new beginning at this point, but here we are. I have about another 4 to 6 weeks to go, and I already have my first client lined up. What a blessing! Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done. I am beyond blessed and grateful.

So, I have to go out on a limb here. Something I have never done, nor considered doing in my life. Something I’ve done for others many times, but never for myself. Maybe out of pride, maybe out of denial thinking I would never be in a situation to need this?

Well, here I am. People say if you ever need help, please ask. Much to my dismay, I am asking. With a caveat.

As you all know for the past 30+ years, I’ve been an audio mixer, and engineer. The most passionate and creative job I could ever want to have. I have been blessed to make a living in a career that I adore. Many people don’t get the opportunity to be so blessed.

The industry has taken so many hits over the last years with all of the strikes, and now with AI, all of the creative talent is being left in the dust. Not a place I ever thought I would be as I roll into my 60’s soon.

I have decided to take a drastic turn in my career, and I would like to focus on being a real estate agent for country properties out here in Iowa. It’s a people-person career. As you know, I am definitely a people-person. Working with a big box improvement store has been an incredible experience, but when you work in receiving, it’s a physical task that is usually better suited for a “younger“ and more physically capable employee.

I am not one of many needs, but I do need a temporary boost until I can get on my feet again. I am going to create a GoFundMe page, again, with a caveat. I plan on repaying anyone who helps during this time. Every one of my friends has always been a “if you need help, just ask” kind of person, including myself. I’ve helped to the point of actually not having any money left in my account. It’s just what we do, as people. This is not an easy world to live in, right now.

So after much consternation, I am asking. But once I get my wings and take flight, I will repay your generous gift, the way it should be done. I’m not asking anyone to support me, I am simply looking to accomplish my startup fees. I didn’t realize just how much would need to go into it, but it’s mostly marketing myself. If anyone knows me, you know I don’t take no for an answer. I am the most dedicated and loyal person to making sure that everyone around me succeeds. Now, it’s my turn, as as always, I have the will to succeed. I’ve always landed on my feet, and I will again, I simply need a little help this time. God has humbled me, blessed me, and been with me. Now, he is granting me courage. The courage to reach out.
