New house for the Chuta´s family

Next month I’ll be 28 years old, I couldn’t be more grateful for all the opportunities and experiences that life has given me. Many of these opportunities have been translated in meeting amazing people and communities in my country, I’ve observed how many Guatemalans are example of resilience and
Perseverance, facing daily problems in Guatemala. One of the worse, male chauvinism; a couple
Months ago I was able to help Evelyn, a hard working woman making her best to help her children as she is victim of male chauvinism.

Evelyn lived with her two children, Romario and Eilin in her parents-in-law house, where her two children, her abusive husband shared a single bedroom. Six months ago she tried
unsuccessfully to leave him, she was tired of the excessive violence and alcohol
Abuse but she was threaten by her parents-in-law that if she ever tried to leave, they will
Take her children , and as her life couldn’t get worse now her abusive husband took over the bedroom, if and only if the guest bedroom is not being used she is allow to sleep in it, while
Her children sleep with their aunt she has to sleep on the floor.

Evelyn has a steady job where she makes the minimum 2,842. Quetzales or 365.$ a month, is really not enough to make her way out with her two children, this limitation makes it impossible to leave her in-laws house without them threatening her to have custody of her children. Ones again and unfortunately after 6 months of not sharing the same bedroom with this abusive man, he brought another woman pregnant to make her life and her children a nightmare, living with this arrogant abuser a his parents just because she can have a safe home for her children.

Her story broke my heart, is not fair that a hard working woman, committed, responsable has to live this nightmare just because our culture don’t support and respect women and their transcendental and powerful role in society.
That’s why for my 28th birthday I want to build her a small house where she can be safe with her children, and where the government can be sure her children will be safe and her salary will be enough to support her and the beautiful two children she adores, without having to depend on her in-laws.
As I mentioned before am extremely grateful for everything I have in my life and everyone that has helped me along the way; ones again am reaching out your hearts for your help and support building Evelyn and her two children a new home, between September and October showing her that life can change for better when we believe and help each other adding up to make miracles come true.
Link is added for you kindness and generous donation. Evelyn is just one more victim of man chauvinism and suppression against women in Guatemala but also and must of all, she is a clear example of love and resilience characteristics of Guatemalan women.
My goal: build a two bedroom house, one bathroom and kitchen with a reachable goal of 4,500.$ and if possible and we have enough furniture it ! Please celebrate with me my 28th birthday making Evelyn and her children happy as they will have a new beautiful house to call home
