Meet Catellia, a dedicated, humble registered nurse, who has spent her entire life helping and healing others and now needs our help not for an opportunity to heal but a chance to live.
Being diagnosed with autoimmune disease Mixed Connective tissue in 2006, caused her lungs to scar and prompted a severe diagnosis of Pulmonary Fibrosis and Pulmonary artey hypertension in Decemberof 2011 at the age of 30.
She has faced many ups, downs, twists, turns and more hospital beds of her own than she ever imagined. She has faced the journey with a courageous heart and has refused to give up hope despite the odds. She lives modestly on SSDI and has not once complained about her circumstances. She has continued to smile and uplift others any way she can in her own darkest hours.
Recently her Mississippi doctor told there was no hope for her to receive a bilateral lung transplant, that there was no next step and that her time on earth could be gone at any moment. He even refused to give her a referral stating it would be a pointless endeavor.
Instead of giving up, Catellia began to research on her own and turned to the great State of Texas where she took a long and taxing journey on both her body and mind where she has found that glimmer of hope.
After 3 consultations, and 3 grueling, tedious lung transplant testing trials...a hospital through the grace of God opened it's doors. The catch being she must first become a Texas resident to get on the transplant list.
I am asking all of you to help get Catellia to Texas! To give her the chance to live. To give her hope for new lungs. Even the smallest donation counts in a big way. So please, help me help her have a chance at a full life.
