First time homebuyer Shot Day After Closing

Donation protected
Tuesday January 8th was a day the Contreras-Hernandez family had been waiting for after 20 years of living in the United States. It was the day they became first time home buyers. After months of searching, submitting offers and losing out, they finally won a bid on a home in Durham. Unfortunately their American dream turned into a nightmare. The family had planned on making repairs to the home so they didn’t move in right away. The husband returned to the home the next day in the evening to replace a leak in the washing machine line. When he arrived at the home, he was assaulted at gun point by te masked suspects that asked him for money.  He said he didn’t have any and surrendered his cell and wallet. Then they shot him. For the sake of keeping the investigation confidential no further information can be shared at this time.

This is the picture I took of Isidro and his family minutes before we went to closing on Tuesday January 8th. He is a loving husband and father of two children. He is the sole provider for his family. Now he is lying in the hospital with an uncertain future. He has undergone 2 surgeries over the weekend to repair his intestines. He has not been able to eat yet. He has a long road to recovery. His family is taking life one day at a time right now and are thankful that he is still alive. Please help this family get back on their feet by helping contribute to their medical expenses.
