New Hips for Tim

Donation protected
My brother, Tim, was born with an extremely rare form of dwarfism called Jansen’s metaphyseal chondrodysplasia. Since I was little, I grew up watching him fly across the country to meet with specialists and be in and out of the hospital spending months recovering from the over 10+ surgeries that were required to correct different bone deformities. It’s been 20 years since his last set of surgeries but the time has come for him to have both of his hips replaced due to Jansen's causing degenerative arthritis. If you know Tim, he’s never one to complain about the unfairness of his disability, or the pain it has caused him and is currently causing him. The degenerative arthritis has taken this independent, on the go dad of three amazing kids, to be dependent for everything, practically immobile and motorized scooter bound. Its more than tough to watch as this condition puts him on the sideline of life. Tim's positive attitude towards life may lead you to believe that all is good, the surgery will fix things and everything will be better. But he's also not one to ask for help which is why I'm creating this fundraiser.   Tim has been on Social Security Disability for the past few years because of his hips. With Disability, he is able to be on Medicare for insurance.  These surgeries are absolutely necessary and essential, but are going to leave Tim and his family with a gigantic financial burden as Medicare will only be covering 80% of the total cost. On Monday, August 24th, Tim will be undergoing the first of two surgeries,  hip replacement number one. 8 to 12 weeks after this surgery, he will be having his second hip replaced. The average hip replacement costs $40,000, and he has to have two. 20% of an average cost of $80,000 is a lot of money to pay out of pocket. Tim said that he is excited for the first time in his life to be facing surgery. The only thing that he is truly worried about is the debt they’ll face when all is said and done. I am asking those that can, to come together for this family to help alleviate some of the medical debts that they will be taking on. This should be a time of rejoicing that the surgeries can finally happen, and that soon Tim can get back to being an active father and husband, not a time for medical costs to cause anxiety and stress. Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to give my amazing brother, and the gift it will be to his family.
