New Heart Fund for Erwin Luciano

This fundraiser was created on behalf of Erwin Luciano, his wife Lorie and two boys, Eizeah & Elijah.




In 2005 Erwin was diagnosed with CHF/Cardiomyopathy. In 2007 he was hospitalized after an angiogram. What came next was a world wind that no one expected. In 2019-2020 he struggled with Atrial Fibrillation. In Oct 2020 he was in a car accident that caused more frequent occurrences of Atrial Fibrillation. In Nov 2020, Erwin had a routine appointment but then was admitted into the hospital. During his hospital stay, they did 9 cardioversions and were unsuccessful. They transferred him to Santa Clara Kaiser Hospital to see a specialist. They did 3 more cardioversions but were unsuccessful. The CHF/Transplant Team put him on new meds. In Jan 2021, Erwin was hospitalized for afib & suffered a stroke. The Neurosurgeon removed a blood clot from his brain. He survived it! Jan 29, 2021 Erwin had a follow up appointment with his Cardiologist. They found out that his heart got even weaker and new medications were not working. Cryoablation wouldn’t work. So the doctor decided to be aggressive and have him evaluated for heart transplant. On Feb 22, 2021 Erwin was taken to Kaiser emergency & was admitted. Doctors say he will not survive without a heart transplant. Erwin had his last procedure to place a balloon in his heart on 2/26/2021 & was then airlifted by helicopter to Stanford. He is now on status level two on the heart transplant list. And from here, we wait.




Erwin currently has no medical insurance since he has been unable to work due to his medical conditions and will be unable to work for an unknown amount of time moving forward.




The financial strain is immeasurable and will be a deep hole that will be hard to come out of.  Lorie, Eizeah and Elijah will need all the help they can get, as this is a heavy load on their shoulders. These upcoming months to a year is the most crucial as Erwin awaits his new heart.
