New Headsail for Our Sailing Journey

We’re Janaye and Jase, and we’ve been sailing full time aboard our 40-foot sailboat, Escapade, for nearly 5 years now!
During our recent passage from the US to Colombia, we got caught in some pretty nasty unexpected weather and our headsail finally failed after a long life and an Atlantic crossing. A lot of people have asked how they can help, so we’ve set up this fundraiser to go directly toward replacing the sail and getting Escapade safely moving again
For those wondering — this wasn’t a case of knowingly sailing with a dangerous sail. The sail looked much older on camera in previous videos than it really was due to heavy staining from an earlier incident in the Atlantic. We had previously repaired and maintained it, including replacing the UV strip before the Atlantic crossing, and we also replaced our mainsail before leaving the US. If we genuinely believed the headsail was at end-of-life, we absolutely would’ve replaced it sooner.
Unfortunately offshore sailing can be unpredictable, and this time the sail gave out sooner than expected. We hope this gives a bit more insight into our thought process and what goes on behind the scenes.
Any support genuinely helps, whether that’s donating or simply following along and sharing our journey ❤️
Thank you so much to everyone who’s already reached out and supported us. We’ve already raised around $500 AUD through our PayPal link alone, but a lot of you suggested setting up a GoFundMe as it allows everyone to see the community support and progress toward the new sail.
We truly appreciate all the support — it means a lot to us
