My name is Kim Slozak. I live in Wilmington, NC, one of the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Florence. So much has changed.
Today was our kids first day back to school since Hurricane Florence devastated our community last month. While this is one step closer, we are far from returning to normal.
Over 140 people are still living in shelters. 27 of those are children who were expected to return to school today. Their lives have been turned upside down. They have lost EVERYTHING. Every comforting piece of home was washed away in the flood waters.
This is where we can step up. This is where we can ask HOW CAN WE HELP? For my part, I’m working to raise $2,700 to give each student’s family a $100 Walmart gift card per student. They need backpacks, notebooks, clothes, clean underwear, shoes, food and more.
Let’s work together to lift these students up in our hearts and do what we can to ease their transition into this unexpected, unsure season of life.
Donate what you can. Everything will go directly to the 27 students in need. I will deliver the gift cards personally. Please share with friends near and far, we CAN make a positive difference for these kids who have nothing.
