What is the New Floor Project?
The New Floor Project is the planning, purchase and installation of a new Marley Dance Floor at Classical Ballet of California. We are asking all Friends and Families of CBC to help us with the cost. Donations from any and all Lovers of Ballet are also much appreciated!
The project is directed by the owners of Classical Ballet of California, Nina Baratova and Gregory Amato. This GoFundMe campaign is managed by Parent Volunteers. Please consider helping us out by donating what you can to fund our important and necessary New Floor Project!
Marley Dance Floor...what is that?
A Marley floor is a professional ballet floor that is usually rolled out over a wood floor. It is made of a special material so that dancers don't slip. They provide a safe and easy platform for dancers to learn and perform on. Marley floors are considered to be the industry standard for schools and theaters and are used in most professional dance studios, theaters and performance spaces. (It's what we have now, but we are in desperate need of a new one!)
Why is a new floor needed?
The current floor at CBC is a portable floor that has been lovingly danced upon for over 20 years! Until recently this flooring would be rolled up and transported to a local theater twice a year for shows. 20 years of daily classes, epic rehearsals and complicated moves back and forth have finally taken their toll! The wear and tear on it is beyond fixing and its upkeep is nearly impossible to maintain. From bumps, bubbles, stretched out material, ripped edges, stained, buckled parts, and old thinning tape, the floor in its current condition is no longer ideal for dancing on. We want all of our students to have a safe, quality studio to learn in.
When will the floor be installed?
The plan is to install it during the third week of February, 2019. This is VERY soon! So let's knock this fundraiser out quickly!
