Hi, my name is Coach Giddis. I am a teacher and a soccer coach for Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. We have worked hard over the years to create a program that is supportive of both the boy's and girl’s JV and Varsity teams. The teams work together throughout the year to create an atmosphere of inclusivity, respect, and sportsmanship that has led to success on and off the field! In the past three seasons, we sent two teams to VHSL State Playoffs and made history last year when our Varsity Boys became 4A Region Champs for the first time in school history. And, our success is not limited to the field. We routinely have a collective GPA over 3.0 from our student athletes.
In recognition of our progress, we have the chance to create a training field dedicated to the program, which was once just an open space of grass. With the support of a local landscaping company, this space will be transformed into a training pitch fit for our high school JV and Varsity soccer teams.
Currently, half the field is ready for use. For those who are familiar with soccer, it is the size of a 7v7 field, which can be used for training and preparing our student athletes for competition. The entire full field should be ready by the end of the school year (2023).
However, a beautiful pitch is not enough to adequately prepare the teams. I am requesting donations to buy a pair of soccer goals to get started with. Having a field is wonderful, but having the appropriate equipment for the field is priceless!

Each of us has the opportunity to contribute to the new training field and leave our legacy for the future soccer players that come through Great Bridge High School and in our great town of Chesapeake.
