Veteran Family Displaced by Flooding

Donation protected
Our friends Ezra and Kayla need your help.

On August 6th 2025, a storm came through and caused severe flooding under their home. Within hours, three feet of water had collected beneath the house, stopping just shy of the subfloor. Their foundation has been sinking significantly, causing serious structural issues. Mold has already started to grow, creating a dangerous environment for their family.

Ezra and Kayla have a newborn baby, Markus. This is the home they worked so hard for, and it’s where they've dreamed of raising their child. But right now, it’s not safe to live in. They've been forced to move out until repairs can be made.

The foundation sinking caused a domino effect of damage, and the repairs are now estimated to be a minimum of $58,000. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover this, and despite them having a VA home loan, there is no assistance being offered. Additionally, their 2 dogs are being hospitalized because they contracted parvo from contaminated soil flowing onto their property. The vet bills are currently at $4,000 and still climbing.

Anyone who has spent time with Ezra and Kayla knows they would give the shirt off their back for anyone in need, no questions asked. They are kind, selfless people, and we are praying that the same compassion will be shown to them through this fundraiser.

We are humbly asking for help from our friends, family, and community to rally together to get the Lanctot family back into the home they love. Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring them one step closer to that goal.

Thank you for reading their story, and for any kindness or support you can share.

Testimonials:

"I’m writing on behalf of my daughter, Kayla, and her husband, Ezra — two hardworking, generous, and faith-filled people. Kayla has worked since she was 15, earned her degrees while working, and dedicated her career to protecting the environment. Ezra served five years in the U.S. Marine Corps, leaving with a 100% disability, and later started his own remodeling business, often helping friends and family in need at no charge.

Kayla has returned to work part-time (with a two-hour daily commute) while Ezra works full-time on repairs, leaving them to survive on her income and his small disability pension. They’ve exhausted all local aid, and the city — whose poor drainage contributed to the flooding — will not help.

Kayla and Ezra have never asked for help, but friends and family are working together to give them a fighting chance. They’re not seeking a handout — just a hand to get through this and back into their home, where they will, as always, pay it forward when they can."

"I have been working for Ezra for 8 months, and I’ve never felt more comfortable and supported in my entire career. He is kind, patient and understanding in every way. When I need help, I never have to ask twice or explain myself. Ezra introduced me to Kayla a while back, and I instantly saw how much sense they make as a couple. She has those same gentle and selfless qualities as her husband. I have gotten to witness their parenting on several occasions, and they shower Markus with so much love and patience. They’re a beautiful family, and beyond deserving of any help we can offer. I desperately wish I could fund their repairs myself, but hopefully we can all pitch in and make a difference together. "
