New Facility for Last Chance Cat Ranch

The Last Chance Cat Ranch has operated in its current location for 18 years. This week the City of Lethbridge issued a Stop Order to the rescue because we violate the land use bylaw. We have one year to vacate. The current facility is the founder's home, and the rescue enjoys a meager occupancy fee. Being forced to move into the city's industrial area to be compliant is daunting. We cannot simply buy a property and rents or leases are much higher than the rescue can afford. We are entirely volunteer-run, receive absolutely no funding and fundraise for every single penny. We do not have any paid staff. All donations go directly to the cats.

We are a NO Kill rescue and take on some very sad cases indeed, helping neglected, homeless, abused and feral cats become healthy, socialized and adopted into loving homes.

Pictured on this campaign is Ahsa. Ahsa came to us clinging to life. She was frozen, she lost the majority of her ears, she had a bad Upper Respiratory Infection, and had literally given up. We worked with her very closely and she turned a corner within a couple of weeks. She is still very fearful as she spent her 10+ years fighting for survival but she makes progress every day. You can see how grateful she is. Without a new facility, the Ahsa's of the world will not be helped. Neither will the pregnant mom living under a shed in the dead of winter. Nor the feral who collapses in someone's driveway. Nor the tom who's been surviving for years on his own, fighting for scraps of food, ignored by the neighborhood. These cats all are worthy. All of them want to live. All of them deserve to live. To live without fear, pain and neglect.

Without a building, we will be forced to transfer the cats we currently have in care to other rescues and close our doors. That will be a very sad day for Lethbridge and surrounding areas.

The Last Chance Cat Ranch has saved thousands of cats since the doors were opened. We need your help. We are hopeful we can find a building that we can afford, or barring that, use the money raised to pay rent until we can find something affordable.
