J Vein Caffè has been a beloved part of the Northeast Portland community and Rose City Food Park for more than seven years. Owner JJ has built more than just a coffee cafe. He has created a community — a place where people feel welcomed, cared for, and connected.
JJ is constantly giving back to the community. He promotes fundraising efforts for other small businesses, replaces drinks at no charge if they do not meet expectations, and even remakes spilled coffees with a smile. Kids who visit are treated to free hot cocoa, and dogs are always welcomed with free treats. His kindness and generosity have made J Vein a neighborhood favorite.
J Vein is also known for serving the best coffee in Portland. JJ takes immense pride in the quality of every drink he makes and has always worked to create coffee that stands above the rest.
Unfortunately, on Wednesday, May 20, JJ arrived to open the shop and discovered that the café’s Nuova Simonelli Aurelia II espresso machine had stopped working. He has been trying to repair it, but the cost of parts, repairs, and downtime could leave the business closed for weeks. For a small business like J Vein, being unable to operate is devastating. This café is JJ’s livelihood, and every day closed makes it harder to stay afloat.
At this point, J Vein urgently needs a replacement espresso machine so the café can reopen fully and continue serving the community the quality coffee people know and love. JJ still hopes to repair the current machine, but there is no clear timeline for when it will be operational again. We are asking the community to come together and help JJ reopen permanently. A new Nuova Simonelli Aurelia II espresso machine costs approximately $10,000. We've set the fundraising goal to $13,000 to cover the cost of the new machine and help offset the loss of income from the days the business has already been forced to close.
If J Vein Caffè has ever made your morning better, brightened your day, or made you, your kid, or your pup feel welcome, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Every contribution helps — thank you!
