New Earswick Sports and Social Club Facelift

Hi I'm Lisa the Bar Manager at New Earswick Sports and Social Club.

I have taken to Gofundme to raise money to do a face-lift on the club.

There are many grants around for sports, but nothing for clubhouses. The club looks tired, dated, and is in need of repairs and a new look.

In the heart of New Earswick, our club is used by multiple sports teams, Rugby League and Union, Football teams, park run, and our MUGA for netball and tennis.

The clubhouse built in 1991, the wooden exterior has recently been patched up and painted, but it's just masking the bigger problem. The club is cold in winter, with little or no insulation.

The floor in places feels like it's dipped, probably rotten.

We lease the building from Joseph Rowntree Trust, However, We are responsible for all repairs, improvements and anything extra to do internally.

Inside, We wanting the club to be both inviting and an enjoyable visit. The tables and chairs are from a golf club, half are broken, with so many screws to keep them together.

The lighting is poor, with ceiling fixed spot lights, adding no ambience.

The heating is of no good either, by the time it's last orders, you start to feel some warmth, with just 6 radiators to hear the full club is not ideal.

The bar is in need of an facelift.

Fitted in the 90s has never been extended or altered. It lacks space, lighting is awful, just very dated

It just needs to be appealing so customers also away from sports on a social level to enjoy the surroundings.

I want the club to succeed and be a place where people can sit in comfort, relax. Whether after a sports game, members of the public and our members, somewhere to enjoy a drink and a catch up.

It's a long shot. But I've got to try something.
