I have had the pleasure of teaching the students at Foundation’s Dance Company over the last few months. What I love about working there is the founder Crissy VanAllsburg truly epitomizes the phrase “Dance is for Everyone”. No student is turned away quality dance instruction or opportunities because of age, body type, or ability. Classes are kept small in order to offer individualized attention to each child, performance opportunities are provided quarterly, and all children who wish to go into dance competitions are provided the opportunity (there is no “audition” process). Crissy has also created “Danspirations” classes specifically designed so students with developmental disabilities can develop a relationship with music and dance. Recently Foundation’s Dance Company by Three Best Rated as one of the top three dance schools in Garden Grove, CA.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has been tough on this small studio. Due to significantly more stringent regulations in California compared to other states, Crissy has been forced to reduce the already small class sizes to less than half impacting monthly revenue greatly.
Prior to COVID Crissy was about to replace their dance floor which is greatly needed (I personally experience the need multiple times per week). Due to the unexpected impact of COVID and other repairs that came up simultaneously, replacing the dance floor is not an option in the short term without the help of others. A new dance floor would mean improving the quality of dance instruction given to the students.
Please join me in helping Crissy and the amazing students at Foundation’s Dance Company raise the needed funds for a new dance floor to help alleviate some of the burden COVID-19 has already taken on this small but amazing dance studio. Our goal is to get a new floor installed over the Thanksgiving Holiday so we can be ready for competition and recital season!
