My name is Dr. Kenton Moody and I founded the Hosanna School 11 years ago, in Santa Ana, El Salvador. We now have a student body of 400+, Kindergarten through High School. The goal was to provide the opportunity for education with excellence, Biblical values, and love to children and youth of a very poor area, that was fraught with gangs and violence. The school has been a huge success, helping illiterate children read and write, changing the future of families by encouraging children to stay in school and when they graduate, to get a university degree.
The computers at the Hosanna School are worn out from daily use and at least one-third are 10 years old! It is the only school in the western part of El Salvador to offer a technical high school degree in computer software development and the computers we are using for degree are now more than five years old and desperately need replacing. A brand new desktop computer with an Intel processor 2.50 Ghz, that includes a keyboard, mouse, and monitor can be purchased in country for $653.00. The school needs 60 computers, plus 3 television screen monitors for teaching purposes. 100% of the funds will be utilized for this purpose.
This is a private school, approved by the Ministry of Education. Each student (unless they have a complete scholarship) only pays $4 a month to attend. The high school students only pay $15 a month (although most have a 50% scholarship discount). The Hosanna School provides a hot breakfast and lunch free of charge, help with backpacks or school supplies as needed, and uniforms at cost. All of the teachers have a valid teaching degree and really love the students. The school teaches Computer, English, and Bible to all age levels. The school is sponsored by private donations of both churches and individuals. There are not extra funds available to purchase new computers.
Famous educator, Frederick Douglass said: "It is easy to build good children than it is to repair bad adults." Thank you for your consideration. You can find the Escuela Hosanna/Hosanna School on FB.
